Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today expressed profound grief at the death of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Mahendra Singh Tikait and said he would be remembered as a crusader for farmers rights.
In a condolence message, Kumar said that Tikait was a reputed farmers leader as he was always pro-active to take up the cause of the farmers and speak for their rights.
76-year-old Tikait died due to bone cancer at his son's residence Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district.
